50 FPS footage in 60 FPS project? Will it work?

I would rather go for something with 60 FPS recording as I really think for gaming videos is 60 FPS if not must have, then at least big bonus to it :)

Your average viewer as I've said above will not even receive 60fps.

Is what could be costing more than the alternative really worth that?

A good 60fps video DSLR will cost you about $1,200~ (Canon 80D for example) not to mention the lens for it that could run anywhere from $500-$1500 easily.

If its worth extra $$$ currently? No. Not really
But is it worth it in the long run? I think definitely :)

In worst case I can look for some GoPro or other action cam without fish lenses/as small as possible distortion :)

FPS should always auto set to the lowest setting in the project as far as I know.
I can't really speak for quality output.. it depends on the device your using and the purpose in all honesty.
Camera should output whatever fps it supports, as long as its HDMI out supports it, at all times.
I just force Sony Vegas to do 60FPS.

It probably depends a little on your render settings and software, but I have accidentally forgot to change my settings a few times, and rendered a 30 fps video into 60 fps. All it does is duplicate each frame and play it twice, so it ends up looking the same. I would imagine that your software would do the same, so it shouldn't cause any problems.
