The changes are believed to be set in the next week or two, I wouldn't waste time creating layouts fitting the 2012 template any longer. In fact I myself am just rolling without a BG and any videos until the new layout comes out.

Edit: Larger channels as of today are opting in and changing already, designing templates and layouts that you just posted are simply useless lol.
