301+ views

Hello, YTtalk. rJay here. :) I just joined yesterday, and I already have a question. I've looked up various reasons for the 301+ views. A few of my videos have crept up to 300 views, then switched to 301+ views. I can understand YouTube 'verifying the views', but does it generally take a month? I didn't think so. Any ideas?

Woah, a month?! I don't know, man, I've never heard of it taking that long. Usually it only takes a few hours, but I mean, a month is ridiculous. I don't really know why it would take that long.

Once you hit 301, youtube does a view audit and removes false views. Your view count stays at 301+ until you exceed that number after the view audit. So if they remove 100 views during the audit, you're at 201, but the counter stays at 301+ until you exceed 301.

They have millions of videos uploaded. If it is uncommon for your videos to get to that many views, then it can take a month for the audit to be done. For larger channels, it will only take a few hours. Their system is not the fastest of systems at going through the videos (although I kind of doubt they actually check anything).[DOUBLEPOST=1374732428,1374732345][/DOUBLEPOST]

What??? I always thought it was just a long updating process. I had a video at 301 and then it jumped to 1000... It had been stuck for 2 weeks or so.

Most of the time when it's stuck for a long time, it's because you were pushed way below 301 during the view audit and it took a little while to get back up past the 301 mark again. That combined with another view audit is most likely what caused the delay. You can view the acutal number of views you have after an audit in the video manager.

That is good to know for the future. Thanks!

Check you video analytics, It'll show you the real view count

most likely they took views away like wreckless eating stated i actually had an old video that stayed at 301 forever and i just deleted it eventually

Well, thanks guys. I don't want to delete the videos. And I'm not sure why the views wouldn't be valid. :( Oh well. I'll roll with it.

Yes, that's true. Hang on, let me do that. OK, one has 289. So I suppose I'll just leave those videos up. View count, or what is displayed on the view count's analytics, aren't really that important to me. I just what someone to enjoy the videos.
