So i tried dxtory and it made minecraft lag like hell. I an figuring out OBS and Action right now. Doin trials and i can get all the software free from my people and just write it offa my expenses on my tech zone ledger later. Since i have to file a 1099 for Youtube anyway. Ill look into shadowplay

If your having problems with the video file try switching do Dxtory or mirillis action. These are my top two recording software which create smaller files and also takes up less resources than drape so less fps drops and lags when recording ! Good luck

The way to settle with FRAPS is to buy a 1TB hard drive and a 250GB SSD. Put all your games on the 1TB hard drive and record on it. Once your done making at least 6 videos, place the rendered videos into the SSD and delete the raw files on the HD (That's how I cope with the fat ox).

I can vouch for Shadowplay, I've used it a few times and Nvidia are constantly updating it, or at least they were. If it doesn't record commentary, Audacity is more than enough for recording commentary and it's free. Shadowplay doesn't lag the PC either, well as long as you have a GTX660+ or a 760+ and it shouldn't since it's pretty much just capturing what the card's processing anyways. It's more diverse than what it was when I used it last year, wow just checked now lol It also records commentary but I'm unsure of whether it does it as a separate file.
Currently I used the Avermedia C985 though with RECentral and I'm thinking of changing to OBS since I can't record in 5.1 surround on the damn capture card + I need to get rid of some of the cables, I'm using too many with my PC's capture card + my Elgato and PS3 in the room, not to mention that the capture card cause noticable static in my speakers above 4 bars of audio.
I'd only try using DXTory in future when I start recording with muliple people and so I can buy VAC as well, that way I can split the audio from skype to separate it from game audio AND my own commentary.

Have you considered video compression? You can literately reduce 50gb to merely a fraction without losing a drop quality or time in minutes with an open-source program called "Handbrake" it also makes upload time much faster.

I primarily use action to record. once you are done recording you can export the file and it will compress it for you. Sometimes by 40%. just depends on how long you record and the resolution.
Much more convenient.
And worth the money

It really doesn't affect performance at all. OK maybe 2% if you can run a game at 200fps for then it will record at 200fps. You can also cap the frames (60fps recommended) and it will record seamlessly at that cap.

It isn't really the performance that bugs me because the games I play and record with Fraps and Bandicam don't even take enough of the i7-2600k's juice that recording doesn't even phase the FPS rate. As for the GPU its a Radeon 7950 3GB DDR5 card. I wish I had Nvidia because AMD Drivers SUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKK.

Every time I install the damn thing it keeps saying "Invalid application reinstall" for the trial or full version. I already had an old key laying around from back in the day when I used it on my 1st channel.[DOUBLEPOST=1408553420,1408553297][/DOUBLEPOST]Also to be more exact the latest minecraft video called "Impossible Run #1" was 9 Minutes 30 seconds raw footage took up 16.9 gigs. To put the size/time ratio into perspective for everyone.
I have OBS but the main reason I like fraps and bandicam is it has the FPS marker in the corner that turns a different color so I KNOW it's recording. I just used mirillis yesterday and it only captured 3 minutes of my gameplay and the rest of that hilarious video was like NOPEEEEEEEEE GOTTA BUY ME f**k UR FOOTAGE!
