Evwry body has experienced this problem. I did as well, but awkward does work for me. Nobody quite likes to hear their voice when editing a video, it's a natural thing. Just continue to grow with your voice and get used to hearing it. A friend might help, but it could possibly increase nervousness. Intro videos are not overrated as they are a stepping stone into future videos. You have to do what you think would work best for you. Everybody has a different starting point. My advice? Just do it. My voice sounded weird to me too when I was editing it for the first time. But now I think it's normal, and so do 700 people that subscribed to me. You'll never get fun out of the hobby if you don't get trough that initial start up phase. And damn, I sometimes still go: WTF AM I DOING?!

And then I just go for it... The flow will come naturally. And soon your camera is the window to another way to connect with people around the world!
 
I think when making your first video you should introduce yourself as best as possible, so it'd be best to write a script. I feel like script writing improves you confidence a little when filming. Also I personally don't like it when other people are around when I film. The only tip I can give you is to not give up, film your video about 3 or 4 times and use whichever take is the best, or splice the takes together to get the best possible results. And I made the mistake of doing a tag video early, no don't do it, wait till you grow and make friends online so you can experience the full use of a tag by getting tagged and tagging friends. I hope this paragraph of mumbo jumbo helped :)
 
If you have an awkward time with commentary, I would recommend trying to do it with friends. You'll feel a lot more casual around them, and it'll make things flow easier. You just have to work at it, and try to be casual when you do recordings.

I agree with this. Everyone starts off with an awkward phase. With time you'll get more comfortable and get better. Keep in mind in the future you can always make those videos private or delete them if they're too embarrassing :D
 
All you gotta do is practice. Good camera presence just takes some practice:) As for what video to make first, whatever you think of. One tag really early on is fine, two may be pushing it. But even then, that's just my opinion and you can do whatever you wanna do!
