Looking for some tips on how to spend $1000 to grow my channel. I thought about video advertising, but that seems like a waste. I get 30,000 views and 100 subscribers if I'm lucky?

What about using it to hire a professional editor to do an amazing trailer and intro video? I have tons of awesome video on my channel. Jet, yachts, exotic cars and more so it should be more than enough to make something EPIC. I can use this to bring new subs forever. Thoughts? How would you spend the money?[DOUBLEPOST=1403127457,1403127408][/DOUBLEPOST]What about paying folks to promote my channel?

There's a lot of opportunity to promote your channel. If you don't have the editing capabilities you can throw down a 100 on a trailer for your channel. Then go to a professional marketer. Give them 500 and this will push your video through youtube, twitter and facebook. Spend 300 on a fun giveaway to help promote this video as well. Then spend the last 100 on channel branding.

You will see a large flux of views on your video and do what you can to convert them into subscribers. You can give or take and try different methods but that's what I would do if I didn't have editing capabilities.

Thanks for the info. You recommend any marketing companies?

Also, it's not about capability. I know my way around Photoshop, but I'd be better off using a pro for advertising. I know how to cook also, but it's probably best I higher a catering company for a special occasion. I've been editing for over 10 years, but I edit for myself. I lack formal training. Sure I can do a cool video that will do well, but a pro who really knows what they are doing can really make the difference. I want to get to 100k subs as quickly as possible. I know I'll get there, but it could take 2-3 years more and if it takes that long how long will further growth take? I know I've got the content that can get the views but I do almost no advertising so I'm invisible especially in the new YT model. :(

Hey Carly,

I wouldn't ever pay someone to promote a channel. That has been proven ineffective at growing a YouTube Channel.

Video marketing is an ideal medium for increasing traffic. It's ideal for many reasons and it depends on how you are using your YouTube Channel that make all the difference. Video marketing is great for increasing conversion rates and helping you to build relationships. If done right, it can also have the power to improve your search engine rankings, which is also known as "SEO".

Unfortunately, it appears there are far too many online business owners, YT Channel artists, and others that tend to discount the effectiveness of this type of advertising, and so they avoid it.

I am friends with the guys at Solar Source Media.
I have used them a couple times as well. Each time we have gotten really good results. And the campaigns are spread out over a month. If you have a good video that is shareable and something that people want to see they would be pretty good to go with. They also have some deals going on so you can get extra promotions.

Cool. I'll check them out.

I have nothing much to offer to this thread but please let us know what route you take and how it works out for you, I would be intrested to know how it helps you

I've been thinking about this a lot and all my data suggests that content is king. Sure, if you get big enough I think putting a lot of your money back into your channel by advertising and doing promotions makes sense, but I think for smaller channel, you need to focus on hit videos. I've seen videos bring in thousands of subs. To get that with Ads might cost you as much as $50,000. So I'm thinking $1000 is better spend on a REALLY good editor AND marketing expert to strategist. A great and timeless video can bring in subs for years to come for a one time fee.

I'd recommend checking out a lot of this guy named Gary Vaynerchuk's stuff. He's brilliant when it comes to social media and ideas. He's really intense but he knows what he's talking about and does most of the marketing for Fortune 500 companies.
