I am sure in time we will have one here, I dont oppose having one, I just dont feel the time is right :) I believe a few have signed up, promoted and left, that comes with a lot of forums where you can do that sadly, but we do have a very strong and fun community and in time as we grow I am sure more people will become involved who might have only wanted to promote their stuff. The truth seems though that people are more likely to find regular viewers and subscribers by taking part here more and getting to know people.

I also would love a chat, and also would use IRC again, after like 15 years, IF others decided to use it too.
 
What would you guys use it for is what I am thinking the most, if you can tell me how you think it would beneficial for everyone right now then I might just add one sooner :)

Well for me it would be for chatting when I'd editing my videos and such. I sometimes spend hours editing and it would be fun to have some live chatting as I edit my videos.

there are other reasons too, but i think that one is my top reason.

I will also add that in the past, I've gotten to know some people pretty well through chat systems, more than i would with boards and threads. There's just something about live chatting that you don't get from forums.
 
Thanks, I am hoping to find out what everyone thinks, I am considering having one day a week where the chat is open on the homepage rather than being open constantly, one of the problems with having a chat with fairly small forums is that all the attention turns to the chat, people stop posting because theyre chatting all the time time instead and the forum dies off almost completely and I am sure no one wants that.

What do you guys think about a weekly chat room on the forums? It could also be open on special occasions too like Christmas? That could work well with our current member base size and the issue above wont happen :)

Also I think it gives people something cool to wait for at the end of the week where they can chill out with everyone more, like a weekly social gathering basically.

Well perhaps if certain rules were implemented to encourage people to post and not just chat?

I don't know, tell me if this is crazy, but perhaps like:

- No posting of youtube links
- No YouTube tech questions
Or wait..... what if you had to use forum cash to purchase chat time?? LOL

Or implement cool features that you can purchase using forum money to use in chats?

Hmm... I see your dilemma though. this is a forum 1st.... HHHHHHhhhmmmmmmm
 
I think a forum would benefit the user's of yttalk (Including me) because then we'll be able to talk to each other and get to know each other!
also You could do what th3stuffshow said, basically don't allow links to youtube, but not the idea where you have to pay to get chat time, although paying for features on the chat sound cool (paying done by forum cash!)

I wouldn't even mind a weekly chat room just since it's better than no chat room at all!
