YouTube Subtitles Appear to the Left When Uploading an XML File

Hello all- I'm wondering if anyone has come across this issue. I am using an XML (sometimes called TTML) file for my subtitles. XML/TTML files allow for formatting and positioning of subtitles, as opposed to the standard SRT files.

When using the XML file, all of my subtitles that are over a certain length appear on the left side of the screen, despite each of them being tagged with "bottomCenter" in the XML code. I've tried tinkering with every imaginable setting in my subtitle editor (Subtitle Edit), editing the XML code directly, as well as modifying YouTube's caption options within the video. Nothing. All the other formatting (bold, italics, color, font, etc.) is fine.

Does anyone know what the issue might be? Coincidentally, when I upload the same subtitle file but in SRT format, this problem goes away. I would just use the SRT file, but I really want to keep the formatting and positioning edits of my subtitles (which, again, SRT does not allow for).

Thanks for any help!
