YouTube no longer allow monetizing channels under 10,000 views??

Thinking aloud:

Wonder if paid views work? Meaning, could a creator pay a couple hundred bucks and use AdWords to drive paid views to their videos? I got over 1k views on a couple of my videos really cheaply ($10/ each) using ads. Would those paid views count when applying for the YPP? Or do organic views only count?

They probably count. Plus, all of those video ads are reviewed by a human. So, it's a win win for google/youtube.

Heh! I knew this was coming. I already said their biggest mistake was that they made partnering too easy that every channel got a pass without a review (not that I'm complaining, I'm happy I got partnered). :)

Now, new creators would/should feel a bit scared. Scared whether their channel would get approved or not after all their hard work. O_O"

This is a good and a bad thing. For one advertisements will be reserved for those channels that are actually getting traffic at a consistent rate, so this means that only the Youtubers that are putting in hard work at least for sometime will receive money. But the initial reason many people do YouTube is money and that may turn some people away if they see that they aren't getting the numbers they want. But I think if you are under 10,000 views (like me) then we just have to keep working at it. It's not like im making millions either way, and honestly wouldn't want that anytime soon. I'd rather earn the right to get money from my content, rather than create content solely because I know there is some monetary benefit from it.

Moneywise it wouldn't be worth it. You get ~1$/1000 views so normally you loose your first 10$ by having no ads on them.
So by spending more than 10$ on getting instantly to the 10,000 views, you loose money.
