Youtube Counts Self Views?

Sirtoshi

That One Guy
Good day, folks.

I was wondering: does Youtube count it as a view when you view one of your own videos? Sometimes I jump to one of my own videos to view comments, check that annotations are working, etc, and I was hoping that my own views DON'T increment the counter. I don't want to falsely boost my own count, AND I don't want to fool myself into thinking I'm attracting a larger audience than I really am, haha.

If it does, I'll have to take extra precautions. Hm.

Nope :) youtube only counts unique views these days, I believe?

YouTube does regular audits now, and that take away, non-unique views (you can only view a video once from your IP, browser etc) botted views , your own views etc.

The part about the one view per IP is not true at all. Where did you hear that?

All I know is, when I watch one of my own videos the view count goes up. I would expect that audits include these self-views.

YouTube hasn't talked about what they consider a view in great detail, but I'm sure they know that sometimes people watch a video more than once, often multiple times. While they probably discount a ton of views from the same IP, they surely don't limit it to one view per IP.
