YTtalk Mad
Hey guys,
So at the moment I am a bit confused with the whole YouTube analytics thing. So I understand that the estimated earnings is after YouTube's cut but before your networks cut if you are with a network like me.

Now the part that confuses me is the ad performance. So in the ad performance your playback CPM is your revenue per 1000 views before YouTube's cut? What does gross revenue mean? Is it before or after youtubes cut?

Thanks for your help guys.

1000 monetisable views. Which could be about 2000 actual views.

Gross is your take-home money, Net is your money before deductions.

So gross revenue is how much I have earned and then that is split with my network, is this correct?

Gross is actually before YouTube's cut. It's between YouTube and your network, which is 45/55 (network gets 55%).

The estimated earnings are then before the split between the network and you.

I know, it's pretty confusing at first.

No. Gross revenue is what you take home. That's your money.

Net revenue is what you earn before deductions. So if you're looking at your gross revenue, you're looking at what you have earned for yourself.

So youtube takes its split from the gross, which is how they come to my estimated earnings. And my estimated earnings is then split with my network?

Just like taxes, Gross is before deductions, net is after deductions. Which is why your "estimated earnings" is roughly 55% (YouTube takes 45%) of your total Gross revenue.

As an American, net is what you have after all other deductions. If that's different in other parts of the world, then I'm sorry. On the bright side, you have the metric system :)
