You do not need to upload videos every day

The other tedious part about uploading is you hope that all videos get a bunch of views. I've had some where I was waiting for the views to happen and it never did... While as others that just exploded. Its hard to have consistent views I think.

A lot of people think that to become a large channel you need to release videos every day, This is not true. Some large youtubers rarely release videos every week, for example CGP grey or the Gaming Lemon. What really matters is quality > quantity, I see new channels who make videos every day but the are unbearable to watch.

So next time you think of uploading that minecraft lets play episode #233 that you recorded that day, watch it over and say to yourself, "is this video that good?"

Yo! I remember seeing you on DamnLag. ;)

I believe in what you stated: quality > quantity. And I believe that the same applies with our kinds of channels: gaming channels. However, I believe that depending on the game that you are playing, you really should sit down and consider just how many times a week you are going to post a video from that series. For example, if someone is only going to post one video from his JRPG Let's Play series per week, that series might last forever, ahahaha! So I believe that what's important is finding that balance: one should still consider a weekly video upload amount that will keep viewers coming without sacrificing quality. :D

There's a theory (A GAAAMMMMME THEORRRY) about subscriber burn, which numerous YouTubers have encountered - that basically suggests that oversaturating your audience with content can be detrimental to continued view growth. You basically create so much content that they cannot view all of it, or you create content that they are not interested in - and the YouTube algorithm decides that this viewer is no longer interested in your content. ALL the while, you're gaining subscribers. So it creates this confusion, growth in subs while views (and by that notion likes, comments, and revenue) plummet. This begins affecting other videos and the whole thing can spiral out of control quickly.

It also depends on the type of content you upload to YouTube. People that upload music don't upload as regularly as gamers but get more views on that video. Then if you upload game play it also depends of the type of game if it is an episodic game or with a story it should be everyday, but if it a sand box game like minecraft and you play hunger games you will end up with episodes that are similar videos.

I agree. A prime example of having loyal subscribers but hardly releasing videos is Jontron. Then again, he probably has a big enough audience to be able to do that sort of thing compared to small youtubers :p

Im going to shift how I do things at my channel. I used to upload every day and currently have about 8 FIFA episodes to upload but I think I am just going to chop them all into one video and make it a highlights and lowlights video
