Would copying tags work?

Would one way to increase traffic be to copy tags from a similar audience?

For example, my recent vid is Adventure Time inspired, but all of the tags are AT vids are directly related to the show such as character names, but if I look at other short fantasy animations with a lot of views, would copying their (non-specific) tags help drive traffic to my vids?

As long as the tags apply to your video, it would be fine. I do not recommend that you put other channel names in your tags though.
To be honest, I don't know if YouTube is even looking at the tags anymore.
