What happens if you stop uploading while partnered with a network?

Reach out to your Network Manager and explain to him that you won`t be able to upload in the next upcoming Months a new Video on your YouTube Channel for whatever reason. Usually the better Networks have a list where they are putting those Channels on to don`t contact them a few Months later why nothing was uploaded over the last couple of weeks/months depending on your contract.

Also create an Video for your YouTube Channel where you inform your Viewers/Subs that you won`t upload new content over the upcoming months but that you will return or not to do so after a timeframe of XY.

That way those that care about you will still keep you on their List and those that never cared about you at all will drop now what they had done probably anyway if you had suddenly stopped creating new Content in a few months after you had left.

A friend of my who had joined the Army for three Years did that and when he had returned those that had watched him before (He has an Gaming Channel) still had him on their list and the welcome was very heart-warming after such long time since some had in the meantime got married/divorced/kids/...

Its in the contract but hardly ever enforced. Remember the contracts are just a way for them to have an out with you if they want. Say you started uploading very inappropriate videos and put the network logo over them. The network having as many out clauses as possible means they can find any reason to get rid of you. Using your scenario, say you missed 1 month of uploading they can say "hey we noticed you didn't upload for a month, your gone" the real reason was the inappropriate content. Hope this helps!

I think nothing will happen to your channel. Depends on your contract with RPM, if there's any rules that you must upload a video every week, so you have a problem if you stop making videos

They always use nebulous language like "reasonable effort" "regular upload". In the end they don't care because it costs them nothing to keep you partnered and idle. And even if it came to some kind of issue, technically 1 video per year can very easily be considered regular.

I was considering partnering with RPM on my channel. The only thing is that I might not be able to commit to regular uploads for a whole year. If that were the case and I had to stop after, say 8 months or so, what would happen?

Just what ThioJoe said - nothing. You are obviously encouraged to upload stuff (your "best effort" to create content), but unless it says you have to upload a video, you don't. Most networks have this stance because they get paid either way, although with the quota contracts (I haven't come across one) they typically help you out in more than just royalties.
