Wow... never seen anyone give reviews like you do.
Not too long ago, I've been burdened by my high school kids I am responsible for at church.
I am their Youth Leader so to speak and just love them to death.
Recently, I've seen some lack of interest on spiritual matters and church in general.
Thus, I wanted to spice things up a bit and wanted to convey "church" as a place of fun and not a place of boredom.
I've been planning various activities to be played out right after sermon of each week.
I thought putting up a promo video catering to my kids each week would be a great idea to boost interest and harvest some smiles.
This is the third video of the series.
I call it "Fun Church".
I would love to hear your input on how effective this video is according to my goal: sparking interest to the church.
To give you a little insight of the first two videos... it has been a pretty decent success so far!
People have been staying after sermon to partake in the activities and they are, at least in my opinion, enjoying the day!
My video below:
Video Information:
My goal is to choose a different youth member each week and put them on the spotlight. For the most part, I allow them to speak the language they are most comfortable with. The name of the youth last week is "Yeop" pronounced "Yup" and he chose to speak in Korean. Whenever a different language is spoken, I try to put subtitles so that others who don't understand the language can comprehend it. Yeop has quite a colourful personality so I took advance in using him to his fullest ability. Even though he is a funny kid, and, in many times, quite a joker, he was very shy dancing in public (ie a shopping mall and a Korean supermarket) because he never did something like that before. I encouraged him to the best of my ability and eventually, after many takes, he pulled through! I am quite proud of him. I used a popular Korean song called, "Monster" by BigBang (some KPOP song...). I wanted them to have a bit of familiarity to the song so that they can relate to it.
The youth presented at the end of the video is projected to go the next week - I try to keep this component consistent for each video of the series. Side note: at the very end, when we say, "Hul"... that's a Korean word that pretty much means, "Are you serious?"
I already know many things I could have improved on this video. Especially my use of captions on paper... I had a much more effective scheme in mind, but due to lack of time, I was only able to come up with this... not as effective as I had imagined! Anyway, this is for you to review and for me to keep my mouth shut.
If you can help me further improve my videos to further spark the interest of my awesome high school kids, please, by all means, fire away!
