Software for creating a Great Youtube presentation + education videos?

Hi, I'm interested in making some nice educational videos, a mix of video, some animations and slideshows. I was wondering. what program would you recommend to make awesome tutorials? I'm wondering if Camtasia and Powerpoint is the way to go?

I'd say use Powerpoint for the slideshow and to edit the videos you can use whatever you like. My personal preference is Premiere. Though it is not cheap
