Hmm, but with as much backlash as he has against him, he still must have had a fair number of legitimate subs, unless the fact that he botted just spread by word of mouth.

He did have some. He botted his first chunk of subs. When you do that, some real ones will come. His videos started to get on the top viewed lists and high in search, and he did get some real subs. A large portion are botted though. Look at his comment to view ratio on his videos from like a month ago.
