Partnerships with networks will make you more money, because the CPM will be higher. Also, you are better protected from copyright and click-bombing.

I guess that if you do get partnered you can be more proud of yourself than just getting monotization -.- I guess that is a big acomplishment and you can actually tell people you have partnership.
