Does recording a TV show give you a copyright strike or content claim? LeTron75 has a 5 year old videos which the TV show looks like similar to America's funniest videos as well as other users like gm pm recording a scene from the movie Paul.

Should youtube give these people Copyright strike or Content ID claim?

Technically yes. It all depends on the show though. I've found entire seasons of TV shows on YouTube with thousands of views and they've been up for over a year. If a company or show doesn't want it out there they won't let it. Some just don't care apparently haha!

It's not up to YouTube to give the strike or claim, it's up to the owners of the Copyrighted material and what they choose to do with it.

With more and more works being entered into the Content ID system and older videos being scanned, eventually all violations will be caught. More often than not, they will simply receive a Content ID claim and all monies received will go to the copyright owner, but there is always the chance that the owner could change their mind, have the footage removed, and issue a strike. Nothing is every completely safe.

depends on the copyright holders now most don't want anyone but them distributing there show so those who do it take a big risk of getting there channel permanently banned.

I think the people posting tv shows are usually just aiming to make a quick buck but know there is a good chance their channel will be shut down in time. Then they'll just start another channel and try doing the same thing
