Putting "YT" in usernames

So, sometimes when I join a multiplayer match in basically any game, I see a player who's put "YT" or the ever-awful "TTV" after their username. I never went to check out any of their channels until I started making videos myself. I was just wondering if any of you have experience with channel growth because of advertising your channel through your gaming account or if you've discovered an engaging channel by looking up someone's username.

Not a gaming channel, I've checked out a fair share of players channels after I get fragged by them. Almost always a posts 1 video every few months sorta thing lol. So as long as you consistantly upload then Id say you might lucky.
