Promoting Videos: Is This the Best Way?

Hey there! Recently, I've been interested in promoting my videos more than I had in the past. So, when I post a video, I take the main idea of the video and search for websites that find that particular idea interesting. Then, I message these people however I can and send the link with a brief message about it and why I sent it to them. Does anyone else do this? And is this effective or more annoying than good? Thanks!

To be honest, I think you're doing it right and politely. Most just spam the hell out of forums. So kudos to you.

I don't necessarily do it with videos, but sometimes I'll do that based on similar interests with my music. It's a great way to promote it, but I could see how some would see that as spam. I wouldn't worry about it too much, though, because it's a way for you to promote your content.
