Partnership = Betting Against Yourself?

Hey guys,

So I've been playing around with the idea of joining a network, but still haven't gone with it. Being monetized means being able to hang out at YouTube spaces / getting your thumbnails / etc, and you're still able to bring in some cash with regular adsense. But here are the perqs of a partnership as I see 'em:
  • Premium adverts *could* mean a higher CPM
  • Access to potential collab partners (probably less likely if you're on the small side)
  • Gaming licenses from some networks
  • Music / creative assets
I can see the appeal of this for gamers - people who NEED to be able to license the games. And if you're really aching for collabs, or can't get a bit of music for your channel, then I suppose that'd be a big benefit.
But I can't help feeling like if you sign up for a 50/50, 60/40, or even a 70/30 split, you're really betting against yourself. You're signing onto something with the expectation that you won't grow enough to deserve more of your ad revenue.

I'd be interested to know your guys take on this - or whether there are some big reasons to sign that I'm missing.

I fell like I joined a network not only for the features you listed, but also with the thought that I could possibly get clicked bombed and never make money without opening a new account.

this right here is exactly why i decided to try for partnership earlier then i wanted. we did not want to risk getting click bombed after all the work we put in to our main channel. my Original personal channel got click bombed an account i had since 2006 so i was pretty bummed to let that go..but thankfully it was just my Personal channel and not the main channel.

I am in the same boat as you good sir, keep looking into it but not to sure about the potential benefits and if it would help my channel etc. Will def keep an eye on this topic as i would like to see what others say.
