Partnership and Monetization Early?

Hey, I was just wondering if monetizing you're videos early on in your YouTube endeavors could actually be a detriment? Same goes for partnerships with networks.

Not sure if this is the case, I just heard something like this somewhere and was wondering if there is any validity to this.

Well you won't earn any money by doing it so early so it doesn't matter
