Newbie question (Thumbnails)

I enabled monetization and did not monetize my videos, now I have custom thumbnails

Well yu dont have to be partnered lawl xD Yu only have to verify your YouTube account andthen yu will have the option to use custom thumbnails ^_^ But what i dont get is that some pples say they had the "custom thumbnail option" without verifying their acc :/ Im getting a bit confused xD

If I recall correctly, someone recently mentioned that they lost the thumbnail option when they disabled monetization on this forum :s
