Hi, I want to make a video about Queen Elizabeth's life using photos, but confused about the Copyright law. I see many videos on Youtube with photos. Should I put a slide with credits to the photographers?
If your video is for educational purposes, and you're teaching about Queen Elizabeth yourself (narrating, or in front of the camera), you should be ok using other peoples photos. Credits would help a lot should you face a copyright violation but I would assume the fair use laws would be fine with this.
I am not a great authority on this, so maybe someone else can chime in.
Many historic images are available from National Archives etc with free licences to use under fair use etc.
Also be sure to check out British Pathe for relevant vide content you may be able to use with permission.
