Need help with Black Bars!!

This may sound like a typical newb question, but I use my laptop camera for the time being and my most recent video, and only one using it lol, had the black bars on the sides and I was wondering if there was a way around getting rid of them. I know there's certain ways but when I tried after making the video I found myself so frustrated that I wanted to bust!

Your help will be greatly appreciated!
 
it appears you either record or render all your vids in a 4:3 ration(meaning not widescreen) to fill the youtube player you have to record and render in a 16:9 ratio like 1280x720, or similar :)
 
Thanks for responding so quickly! I just load up the camera built in my laptop and record. Rendering wise..I followed the vegas pro settings that was posted in a different thread.

Anyway to record bigger besides buying a webcam..college kid problems :sorry2:
 
sadly not that i can think of, though some phones do have awesome cameras, for instance i record all my video footage on my sony xperia p :p if you have a decent phone camera that records in widescreen you could try using that :D
 
Ahh that's real neat, you lucked out! Unfortunately I have an iPhone 4 and I don't believe it's camera is all that great..

You kidding? The iPhone 4 camera is wonderful! Of course not compared to the 4S, 5, or other newer phones, but it shoots 720p and takes 5 mp pictures! It's a great camera! :-P

i agree, it's not top of the range but HD is HD :p and it will fill your youtube video player :D
 
AHH! That's the best news I've heard! I'm an idiot hahaha.
I will definitely start using that to record then.

PS the 4 was cheaper and I didn't need that damn Siri! LOL
