Monetizing commentaries and gameplay with just a youtube partnership

As long as your video falls under fair use you will be fine. I don`t get how people still believe that Networks have " Licenses" if they did then they wouldn't care about commentary because they would be "Licenses to distributed the content"
Yup, such BS/scare tactics/recruiting crap: "Join us, we can monetize that game which you will totally, 110% get banned for monetizing on your own"

Nah, TGN has no licenses, either does Fullscreen, Machinima only has 1 or 2 small-time ones.
Shane, what do you mean by they only have 1 or 2 small time licenses? What are these and how are these any useful to the channels they partner compared to other networks that don't have these 1-2 small time ones?

Thanks.

So what do the networks have that enable you to get money from your videos? Just permission from EA?
No, those are the 'lisenses' we keep talking about how they don't exist.

They basically have access to the Content ID system (youtube's way for copyright holders to claim content as their own) and can claim it as their own (aka under fair use), which individuals can't do. At the same time they aren't going to back their partner if the game developer/publisher really makes it an issue.

There are three different things at work here: US Law (Digital Millennium Copyright Law), The Fair Use Clause, and Youtube. To note: Youtube is /alot tougher/ on users then US Law actually is. They automate the DMCA system so that it automatically happens. You can be DMCA'd with or with out a network. A network having 'licensing' agreements means that a company is less likely because they have had a payment from the network. Fair Use does cover games as well if you use commentary - but it's not 100 percent. It will generally come down to this: Do you have the resources to sustain a legal battle against a corporation? Being right or wrong on the topic doesn't matter alot in that circumstance.

Yeah tell that to the people that were partners and got butcher by sega during the shinning force fiasco a few months ago, it all comes down to the company and the game if you want to preach about these license " aka C.C otherwise known as Creative Commons license that everyone even the average joe has access to then do by all means lol

I got this reply from RPM network

After reviewing the content on your channel, we have determined that we cannot bring you into the network at this time. It appears that your videos are primarily based on content or music that you may not own or have the appropriate rights to. Once this content has been removed, feel free to reapply.

Are they referring to the gameplay of Battlefield 3? I have only used one song on one video and that was a copyright free song. If so, how do gaming channels get partnered while having this content on?

From these forums i've heard that EA are quite picky and strict when it comes to their games, and it may be because of that... I think you may have to get permission from them. Hopefully someone will post their email here as I don't know it
