Machinima and RPM!!!!

What type of problems, I've been doing research and all I can turn up are rumors. Everyone seems to have a negative opinion of Machinima, but is unable to explain why.

I hate when people do that. Especially when they have no experience with them, or any kind of network.

I've been looking to join a network too, so I'll be interested in knowing how it works out for you.

I'm not here to defend them, but when you put your signature on a contract you're showing that you understand the content of the contract. RPM was unwilling to negotiate at all on the contract terms, but Machinima is.
I'm with RPM myself and haven't got any problems YET, there are a lot of people who like RPM but I cannot have a real opinion yet because I'm only twenty days with them but so far they are good :) and I don't know if you know Athene but he made like several vids about them, I'll link you one :)

Any specific names that you can think of?

They recently cut about 40% of their partner pay, between 20-70%, Their smaller channels don`t get support, or if they do it takes months, Their hub channels are bad for exposure e.g. Machinima Respawn uploads so much that their uploads just push each other out of subboxes,

Haven't had any problems with Machinima... I just became inactive for a very long time. Lost interest. But they still respond to my emails within 24 hours.

Recieved offers from Machinima and RPM, and am waiting to hear back from another network. I'm looking at the pro's and con's and it kind of boils down to this:

Machinima - brand name, exclusive contracts with multiple gaming companies, huge fanbase, excellenet opportunity for exposure. Cons: long term contracts, response to inquiries can be slow. Seems to be a lot of negativity around this forum towards them, without detailed explanations.

RPM - Smaller, but community focused, short-term (1 year) contract. Cons: lacks the same exposure as Machinima.

Split is similiar between the two networks. What would you do and why?

What is Machinima's contract for you? I mean, in terms, how long is it? I heard that it can be really bad? It used to be the general "Gaming Channel's YouTube dream" to get partnered with Machinima because they really are the ones that revolutionized the gaming aspect of YouTube and put out a lot of commentary videos. Everyone wants to go to them just because of the name, "Machinima." Recently, I have heard a few negative things about them. For them, it's really all about the numbers; subs, and views on your channel. They just want more money. A lot more newer networks, are actually looking at your potential, quality of content, and can provide you a better service with better support because they are newer, and trying to emphasize on the areas where gaming networks like Machinima, lack in. RPM/Maker Studios: I have heard good things about them. They are one of the biggest networks, next to Fullscreen. So they get pretty good adbuys. Machinima should get pretty good adbuys as well since they are the biggest entertainment/gaming channel on YouTube. :p So really, it's up to you. With RPM, you could see how the network is for 1 year, then later choose to go with Machinima. I have spent a good month and a half researching many different networks so I encourage you to do the same before making any decision!

Still negotiating contract length. I kind of feel like RPM approves almost everyone....not that it's a bad thing, but it doesn't have that brand exposure that Machinima does. The turnaround time with RPM seems to be much quicker though, and I like the small channel support. It seems to be more community oriented than big business. The difference in the contracts alone are night and day. It's almost like...do you go with the machine that is machinima, or try out RPM for the year instead. A lot of good ideas and advice in this thread though and some food for thought.[DOUBLEPOST=1358484733,1358484492][/DOUBLEPOST]
Actually both FPSRussia and Pewdiepie didn`t even get their pay-cut, Machinima just gave them 21 days to leave
So did FPS and Pewdiepie request to terminate their contract, or was it on Machinima's end?

They were told to go since Machinima didn`t wanted to pay them for unmonetizeable views anymore and cut their split. Look, times are changing and Mobile Device are literally flooding the hole Internet.

So in the last two Years (2010 - 2012) Machinima did loose every Day a huge shitload of Money since those Channels had an increase of unmonetizeable views but in return didn`t generate enough Income to make it profitable.

Till last Year (Nov/Dec. 2012) Machinima were paying those Premium YouTube for every View, doesn`t matter if it`s Monetizeable or not. Now the Machinima Management told them to either accept a new Contract that does prevent those Payments with an bigger cut or leave the Network.

While some might not understand it for now I can assure you that Machinima is doing the right thing and it will help the Network to grow even stronger.

The Problem is now that some don`t understand that those recent changes don`t affect the smaller Channels or those that want to join Machinima at all.

It was just that Machinima had to kick out those few that are getting paid for every View on YouTube, doesn`t matter if it`s from a Mobile Device, or from an Bot or...

I can ensure you that some of those listed above won`t ever talk about it in the public since in that case Machinima would release the View Stats for their Channel and you wouldn`t believe were those Channels are getting their Views from...
