They want to feel better about themselves, and it's bragging rights. But I don't see how it will help you feel better knowing that all those subs/views are fake lol

Yeah well people are differend... In my channel it makes me happy and all my sub and views are real and people comment me alot, ask me things, give me feedback etc etc. It's just awesome!
