Is 480p to low for gaming commentaries?

I wouldn't watch a video at 480 but there is now way I would click the dislike button because of it.
I saw a similar channel to mine the other day that had uploaded everything in 240 :eek: They had lots of content but very little views.....

They might not even know, as is this case sometimes.

720p HD minimum I'm afraid.
 
Here's the bottom line, you have to work with what you have right now. If that's the best you can do, that's the best you can do. You cannot let this hurdle stop you from making videos. Explain to your viewers that new equipment is planned and I doubt they abandon you in the meantime. However, in the meantime sure up everything else. Make sure your commentary is excellent, make sure you uploading regularly, etc. BTW if it's something I'm interested I will watch 480. :)
 
I always watched @ 360p. If it's a tutorial and I need to fullscreen then I hit 720p but most of the time 360p XD 240p sucks 'cause the audio is not so good XD
 
For what it's worth, I use the default 360 resolution. I only increase the resolution when I want to sit away from the computer and need to go full screen.

One aspect that you might want to consider however is posting your specs and how you record. People might be able to help regarding optimization to your setup. Personally I'd say, defrag your hdd (if it's a mechanical one).

Once defragged, I went from 3-5fps on my fraps recording to my usual 60fps.
