Is 480p to low for gaming commentaries?

Hard Drive
Hey guys, im in a bit of a pickle. My pc works great on all games when not recording, I can usually run everything on their max settings. But when recording it takes a toll on my hardware. Some games I can record in 720, but some I cannot, in fact most i cant. Im working on getting some new hardware but it might be a little bit, jobs where i am at are scarce and hard to come by, so buying new hardware is taking a bakcseat until then.

So I guess my question is this, Do you dislike videos that arnt in 720 or higher? I have recorded some in 480 and they turned out ok. Me personally, I watch all youtube videos in 360p, because one, my net sucks, and two, it generally looks fine to me. So do you think its bad to upload anything other than hd content?

I wouldnt dislike a non hd video.. just not watch it
I watch videos in 1080p or 720p if else.
HD content is where it is at.. It is a way over saturated market and to get big youll have to produce HD Content

I think 480p is perfectly passable if you take care to encode it well. It will matter more if you're playing games with text people might want to read though.

I personally wont dislike a video just because it is less than HD, but it is always a plus to have the option to watch it in HD. I suppose for me, if it is gaming commentaries, it depends on the game. If the game looks horrible in less than HD I probably wouldn't be all to happy, but if it looks fine in 480p, I don't really care.

When you cannot export captured gameplay at full 1080p, it is best to make use of the extra space instead of blowing up the pixels. youtube.com/watch?v=g7xuH5aNzrk Most people do this with hand held games, but it can work well with other things as well. Just make the rest of your screen functional : ) If you need a tutorial on how to do this, it is really easy with sony vegas.

I don't mind if its not HD. I mean yeah, I'd prefer Hd, but as long as its entertaining I'll watch it :)

Yea you guys are giving me a lot ot think about. I might have to make a decision to not upload other stuff, not sure yet.

although i record all my videos on 1080... when i watch youtube i always have it set at near the lowest settings... so i rarely will click the higher settings... so it would work for me if you recorded your videos in 480
