So one night I was incredibly stupid and joined the Smosh Games Alliance. I didn't look into all the details but I signed up for it. I am regretting this decision so much since they offer me NOTHING and will take 30% (for doing nothing) and I only get paid every $100 I make (That's NOT including their 30%)...
So I wanted to leave. I check their website, I check everything I can, I even looked through their tweets to see if they gave any advice... Can't find out how to leave the "alliance".
So I e-mailed them on their correct e-mail address (Not sure what it is). 1 week later no response. So I e-mailed every single e-mail address on their website requesting help on leaving the alliance. No e-mails back yet (Yes I've checked my spam filter).
They simply won't reply and I can't find out how to leave it... What should I do? Is anybody else with SGA and knows how to leave?
Should I contact YouTube and tell them?
Any advice is appreciated, I made a stupid move and I'm regretting it...
I know it's not what you want to hear, but unfortunately, you signed a legal and binding contract. Once you do so, there are only a few reasons you can legally get out of that contract, and most of the time, that means going to court.
Some of the legal reasons for being allowed to leave (breach) a contract are:
1. The terms of the contract are different than what you agreed to.
2. You lacked the mental capacity to enter a contract.
3. You were forced into entering the contract against your will.
4. There was fraud or misrepresentation in the contract.
5. The contract is illegal or requires illegal actions.
6. The contract is "unconscionable" (totally one-sided).
7. The contract is unethical.
In this case, I don't know all the details, and I'm not an attorney. I've only taken courses in business ethics, and some basic courses in contract law. So I can't tell you if any of these have been met. In my opinion, you have no grounds, and you are bound by the contract just based on the information you provided. You may be unhappy, but you did it willingly, and regret is not a legal reason for breach of contract. Sorry.
