How to get more people to comment on your videos

I recently noticed that I haven't given anyone on my channel an incentive to comment. So I thought of this idea where I give a shout out every week to whoever comments the best joke or pun on any of my videos. Every week at the beginning of one of my videos, I would read the joke aloud and give credit to the person who commented it. What do you guys think? And what other ideas do you guys think could get you more comments?

That's actually a really good idea! And it will let you communicate with your fans more, which will make them more loyal! *tries to think of a good joke to comment on one of your videos*

Thanks everyone! Haha, unfortunately I am not getting that many comments to give shout outs so it would be easy to win for now, hopefully it'll eventually pick up and more people will start to comment!

Really good idea basically it's a call to action and gives you a chance to have funny material win win :)
 
The video itself needs to be interesting enough to let people comment. You need to accept that you can't force people to comment. People will comment eventually if they feel need too. You can of course remind people via annotations to comment but don't spam:P

You are absolutely right but at the same time I could give people a lot more reason to comment. Most of the comments I barely have are just saying that they enjoyed the video and that it was funny or something like that. That's great and all, but I also want people to start conversations and to be able to interact with each other and me a lot more. An example would be at the end of the video, I would ask people whether they like Xbox One or PS4. So instead of getting comments saying that it's a good video, I'd get other comments of people's opinions and other conversations :D
