How long does custom thumbnails take to update?

I uploaded a video on private and changed it to a custom thumbnail. How long does it take for it to take that thumbnail so when I make it public subscribers will see that thumbnail? Because when I change to custom thumbnail, it usually takes a long time to change.

Bad idea, by publishing a video from private, it doesn`t go to sub-boxes

No I think he has it on private so when he makes it public the video has the custom thumbnail lol.

What do you mean? I always upload every video as private and then make it public and my subs see it in their sub box.

If you go to the comments page - the thumbnail that gets shown to subs populates there. That's what I'd use to check.
