How do I make Reaction Videos (NOT JINX)

Before you comment NO not the ones like Jinx and CJ is so cool. I mean like OMGitsBirdman or Leafy were they play the video and cut the video at certain points to talk over it. While they talk they ussually have the game playing in the background, then when they stop talking they play the video again.
I tried one that is rendering and I feel like I am not doing it right. Any tips or good methods?
 
I checked out OMGitsBirdman or Leafy but not sure what you mean. Are you talking about freezing frames?
