They have the rights to. Both Fullscreen and Maker Studios have the rights to upload covers of every song in the Universal Music Group, and that is the good majority of popular music. You can also buy the rights to a soundtrack for a couple hundred dollars.

Yeah, I understand that may be a possibility, but the people look like regular Youtubers who just want to share the video, and have no intention of monetizing the video. The ones that I'm mentioning are uploaded in early 2007.

YouTube has a lot of videos uploaded in the early years that would not fly in todays standards. After the Google acquisition and the creation of the partner program, they have really cracked down on copyright.
