I wouldn't say it is worthless, it is still worth understanding. But SEO is going to be changing and adapting quite a bit. I'd say just learn from online sources for now.

Understanding SEO is still very important! If you know how people are searching for videos, then you know how to optimize your descriptions.

YouTube is the #2 search engine on the web, right behind Google.
 
Since this is being done by google, I am going to wait and see. If it does help though that would be great. Just as long as they're more informative with tagging this time and how it ACTUALLY works.

Yes a proper tutorial to, they sort of had 1 for the current tag system but it was fairly ambiguous. Even looking up other SEO methods, it does my head in lol I've given up on trying to get SEO right.
 
I doubt that there will be a tutorial. Even if there was, they won't really tell you how the algorythm works because then the unscrupulous will abuse the system.

There is a tutorial for everything somewhere on the internet. We just need to wait until it's released.
 
I've done well with SEO as most of my videos rank on the front page, albeit with obscure topics. I tend to answer questions with my videos and this appears in the titles as well. When will this change take effect? Or has it already?
