Friends on YT (Box4Box...)

I've Got It
I've been doing some research about getting more YouTube views and stuff, and I also came across something called Box4Box... Can someone explain that to me?

Also, do people need to be in the same specific area of what their doing (E.g Comedy) so the Box4Box method works better?

And lastly, should I start looking for YouTube friends..?
 
There's a box in the upper right hand corner of every channel. You can put a link to someone else's channel there, and have a title at the top. (For example, mine says 'Check out these peeps!')
