Because if so, that would probably be cheaper and allow them to serve a larger amount of people rather than expensive equipment that perhaps vloggers or skit makers may need

At the end of it the people decide to subscribe or not based on the channel's content, so they can advertise all they want . It won't always guarantee more popularity more subs more views, maybe exposure but that's about it.
