I think the reason you do not like your avatar is because you used a different font, and an oval rather than a circle. Do you know the font in the original picture? I would ask the designer of the banner for the font name. Also, I am not sure which program you used to create your avatar, but most graphics programs will let you draw a perfect circle by holding down shift while drawing the circle.
