Yeah, the built in microphones on all cameras are always poor. The Rode Video Mic is probably the most affordable and popular shotgun mic out their.
Yeh because when i edit my videos, the standard sound on my editing software is 3, and i always adjust it to 12. Hopefully with this mic i won't have to adjust it at all.
I don't know what camera you have, but make sure there is a shoe attachment on the top of it before ordering a mic like that. The shoe is what attaches it to your camera.
