Do I need a Partnership?

I am not sure if this works now. I tried this when I wasn't partnered, it wasn't too long ago, and for a few minutes youtube did make that picture the thumbnail of my video, but then it went back to normal.

They`re quite strict on that as it stops people from getting partnered or enabling monetization

Your account just has to be in good standing for a month

To have totally custom thumbs you need to at least monetize one video on your channel, and have that channel be in good standing for 30 days. Once that time has passed you can then upload a custom thumb. I've got about 7 days left until I get mine! Excited! Hehe.

So... after your account is in good standing for one month then I should monetize and remove it immidiatly ? ( Still don't get it :/)

once you`ve got the thumbnails even if you then disable monetization they`ll still be there
