Differences in Macbooks?

Hey, I planning on getting a Macbook pro to be able to edit my videos better. I currently have a lenovo idea pad and editing really barely works on it. I was wondering if there were any differnces between the different macbook pros? I was planning on getting an older version, maybe from 2015. I know that for editing it should have 8 GB RAM, what else is there that I need to have an eye on?
I hope this question wasn't already postet, I couldn't find it! Thank you so much :)

The main difference in different Macbooks will be how much RAM it has, how good of a processor it has, and how much Hard Drive space. 8GB is good, personally I have 16GB, and mine's got a 2.7GHz quad core processor, but I got mine back in 2012 so it's an older model processor. Processing power and RAM is going to determine how fast your computer can render videos, how well it'll handle effects, and whether you can do anything else on it while it's rendering. I use Premiere Pro and I've got it set to use up to 11GB of RAM, so there are 5GB reserved for other applications (Chrome, email, etc). With 8GB you probably won't want to do much else while your computer is rendering and while you're editing.

Macbooks are expensive, but in general I would do everything you can to max out the specs on it when you buy it, because spending an extra $500-$1000 in specs will help your computer last longer, so that you can wait longer before dropping another $3000 on a whole new computer :) Especially because programs are getting bigger/more powerful, and video is getting bigger/better (like 4k and iphones being able to shoot 1080p in 60fps or 240fps slomo.

And if you invest in better specs now then it'll just be faster :)

I'm on a macbook pro 13" and it is rubbish for editing. will only it to edit on it as a last resort. £1,300 for the macbook and it is so slow. I have a desktop pc that cost me £1,200 that's windows, works far better for editing. and the pc from pcWorld that was about £300 I had b4, works better for editing than this MacBook. Have used a desktop mac's too, they work pretty well but for the price there not for me. They might be for you tho. places like Pc specialist allow you to build the pc you require. and they will test ib b4 sending it to to make sure it all works as it should.
