Could this get me in trouble?

I made a new profile picture and I used YouTube's old app logo as my design. I didn't copy and paste theirs though, I looked at theirs for inspiration and I made a very similiar but less detailed version of it. I'm planning on putting my channel name right in the middle of that and using that as my profile picture. Could I get in trouble if I did this?

I don't think you'll get in trouble for this. Especially not at this stage in the game. You're fine for now.

As you're using it for YouTube, you should be fine.
It's not a direct copy, you're branding within their brand, and you're not bringing up any questions of ownership of it.

If you were to start your own video streaming service and used that as your logo, then you'd have to start worrying.

I think you'll be fine as stated above. Since you didn't straight up copy it there shouldn't be a problem
