Channel Banner Upload Problem

I'm trying to upload a new banner to my channel and can't seem to get a 2560 x 1440 jpeg underneath the 2MB limit. Is there some other file format that I can use to do this, or maybe some way that I can compress the file?
Thanks

You can save it as .jpeg instead of .png to compress the file. However, it would be nice to see your banner, so I could give more in-depth help.

I had a banner that was way over 2MB. After looking at it for a while, I realized I was using unnecessary effects that were creating a lot of space. I removed them then my problem was solved.

PNGs are lossless and provide sharp lines and solid colors. It's only for the simple graphics. Jpeg is reserved for photographs and is lossy. Just don't compress jpegs too much or they will look blotchy and pixelated.
