Centred Subtitles in Motivational-style Videos - Why?

Hello everyone.

I've started making some videos that arguably belong to the Motivational Video genre on Youtube.

Over the last few years, virtually every Youtube channel in the Motivational Video space has started using center-screen subtitles throughout their videos. Because of that trend, I've employed the same technique on two of the three videos I've released so far.

But... I'm wondering why this trend has emerged because from a creative visual perspective, it weakens the videos in my opinion. I'm assuming creators have gravitated to it because it's been heavily tried and split-tested against videos without the centre subtitles, and the centre subtitles have proven to be more effective in holding viewer attention. But maybe not. Maybe everyone's just sheepishly following all other creators in the space.

What do you think? I've been trying to find out whether using subtitles in this way is actually the most effective practice or not, but I can't find any answers.

If you know anything about this, I'd massively appreciate your insight.

Thank you very much in advance (and all the best with your channels).
