Can you get by with an inexpensive laptop?

I've been looking for a laptop to edit videos but they aren't cheap. I know faster editing means more money but am also wondering if a little slower is acceptable. I read that solid state drives are better than hard drives but the ones with bigger drives cost more. Could I get by with a 128 or 256 gb solid state drive laptop for a while? I'm sure 8gb of ram is better than 4 but will a laptop with 4gb ram still get the videos created?

I can't give you specifics but before I bought my gaming laptop I had a cheap HP from walmart for like $299.
It certainly did the trick for editing vlogs, but maybe not so much for recording gameplay.

Certainly! I think it will do you nicely, what I did to get my gaming laptop was put aside $100 every paycheck. After 6 months I was able to buy a real nice one, a usb mouse, and a killer mousepad haha
