Best editor?

Camtasia is a great starter kit as it's got a lot of good and easy to use features and it's all very simple to learn.
If you ever feel the need to upgrade to professional software I would recommend Premiere Pro CS6/CC as it's the industry standard for editing software (just overtook and replaced Final Cut Pro in the last year-year and a half).
If you don't want to make the jump from novice to professional straight away I would suggest something like Sony Vegas or Final Cut Pro X (really wouldn't suggest wasting your money on Pro X though).
