Backlinks for YT videos?

I´m starting to get a bit more into SEO for my videos now. I have read that for higher ranking it is important with good backlinks to your videos.

So is there any “easy” way to getting these backlinks? And are some links better than others (guess that’s obvious) so let me ask how do I get the BEST links for my videos?

What do you guys do?

Backlinks are much more inportant for Google search than they are for YouTube, but they certainly don't hurt on YouTube. Especially if you can get your backlinks posted in a high-visibility area.

The "easier" ways to do it will typically not lead to great results. However, if you are willing to put in the work to connect with other communities, you can find some great places to post your links.

Reddit immediately comes to mind. As hard as it can be to post there, if you are constantly adding value to the communities you've joined, and if they want the type of content you make, they will not only let you post, but support you. I've had a handful of subreddits really help me boost viewership and SEO.

Quora is another place you can add value and post links to your videos.

Twitter is great if you understand how to use the platform to get your videos scene. It doesn't help much in terms of backlinks, but it can certainly boost your watch time if you know what you are doing.

Might not help you rank directly on YouTube, but it can help you appear on Google search rankings. And if people click on your video on Google search and find it relevant, that will help with your rankings on YouTube. I'd say they're still pretty important for YouTube if you have some pretty targeted content. I mean Google is the number 1 search engine, so it's good to utilize that. Some of my review videos have gotten pretty good results from backlinking.

To directly answer @Dave2017, one of the strategies I used to improve rankings on both Google and YouTube is to intertwine my blog posts with my videos. So essentially, I'd post video review of a product with a link in the description to an accompanying blog post, which provided a more in-depth look and extra information. Through commentary or annotations, I'd encourage people to click on the blog post link. I also embedded the YouTube video into the blog post itself for any people who stumbled upon my page through Google or Wordpress, so they would get led into my YouTube page. If you do SEO right and have great content on both platforms, you'll be creating a positive backlinking loop. It's how both my video and my blog post appear at the top of Google search results when you look for "SADES SA 903 review", even if I'm not necessarily the top when you use the same keywords on YouTube.'

This was an entire video and blog post project I did a couple of years back. I specifically designed it to test out the capabilities of backlinking and the video still ranks in my top 3 most viewed videos every month.

Hi and thanks a lot to both of you. As mentioned I´m just starting to learn about SEO now and take it from you guys there is a lot to learn

I just signed up for Reddit so now I have to see if I can find out how this "monster" works

I already have a twitter account but I hardly ever use it so I will try to dig a bit more into that too.

No problem. Remember to take it step by step, and don't spread yourself out too thin. I think it's worth learning only 1 or 2 platforms at the same time to really know what you're doing, rather than sporadically being on numerous platforms barely learning anything on each. Much more efficient if you have some focus.
