Anyone use a telepromter?

When I talk about a certain topic I like to plan out the order and the points I make, I find a script makes it too much work and I come up with another thought and I try to introduce it which then throws me off from a script. I find using bullets almost like power points allows for more flexibility and freedom to express your point and cover additional thoughts while still being organized.

Hi everyone!

So the other day i downloaded the PromptSmart app for my iPhone 5. And it works really well. For $10 why not? I type out my script in Word. Save it as a docx file. Upload it to my Google Drive. Then import it into the app. Easy peesy!

It works great so far. As I speak, it slowly rolls giving me time to read each line. And you can adjust the timing to fit your needs. You can even change the backgroud, font, brightness. Whatevs!

Big help so far. Just thought I'd share

(Oh, and I just tape it to the side of my video camera. Yeah, Ghetto).

I never like teleprompters unless theres an actual person controlling the timing in a booth or something. I'm either talking too fast or too slow or I suddenly change my pace.
It's annoying. Memorising/remembering key points always works better.
If you start rambling then cut off the rambling, but who knows you might bring out a good point in the ramble.

I use voice-recognition teleprompter software called PromptSmart Pro on my android tablet. It automatically advances the script as needed, while I'm saying the words. I put the tablet and my camera on a tripod-mountable rig -- the one I have is called the "Caddie Buddy Teleprompter".

The voice recognition is almost always smooth, and the rig is stable. I find that this approach works well for me.

The OP of this thread hasn't been back to the forums for several years, so I've locked this thread to prevent confusion about active conversations. :)
